Ernesto Negron

January 18, 1913 — September 28, 2005

Ernesto "Cano" Negron, 92, of Port Richey, Florida, formerly of Lorain, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at his residence in Port Richey, following a brief illness.


Mr. Negron was born on January 18, 1913 in Cayey, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in 1950, from Puerto Rico, and had lived here until December of 1995, when he moved to Port Richey, Florida. He had been employed at the former Fruehauf Trailer Co. in Lorain for 22 years and then had worked for the City of Lorain, Sanitation Dept., for a number of years.


He was a member of Principe De Paz Lutheran Church in Lorain and while living in Florida he was a member of the Spanish Baptist Church in Port Richey, Florida.


Ernesto enjoyed watching boxing and watching the Cleveland Indians.


He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Petra (nee Rosario) Negron, daughter: Mary Marcano of Port Richey, Florida and sons: Jose Negron, of Port Richey, Florida, Alberto Negron of Columbus, Ohio and Richard Negron of Lorain, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents: Bautista and Adela (nee Quinones) Negron and brother: Tadeo Negron.


The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 2, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Services will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Principe De Paz Lutheran Church, 1607 E. 31st Street, Lorain, where Rev. Juan A. Gonzalez, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
