Esther P. Miller

Esther P. Miller (nee Seroka) 84, of Lorain, died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Kingston of Vermilion following a lengthy illness.


She was born June 29, 1924 in Lorain, and was a life long resident here.


Esther worked for 30 years as a cashier at Hill's Department Store in Lorain, retiring in 1990.


She was a life long member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain and the parish Women's Guild and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Jolly 60's where she enjoyed traveling.


Esther enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.


Surviving are her children, Ronald (Nancy) Miller of Lorain, Donna (Gary) Phillips of Oberlin, Donald (Debbie) Miller of Parma Heights, Rick (Loretta) Miller of Lorain, and Jeffrey (Susan) Miller of Amherst; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph Seroka of Lorain, and Chester Seroka of Avon Lake; sisters, Victoria Shopoff and Mary Bartlome both of Amherst.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Seroka and Mary E. (nee Kolczun) Seroka.


The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain where the St. Stanislaus Altar and Rosary Society will conduct a rosary at 3:00 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:45 am in the funeral home followed by mass at 10 am at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, E. 28th and Elyria Ave. Rev. Fr. Robert Glepko, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
