On October 7, 2018, Eve M. Metelsky passed away peacefully in Avon Oaks Care Center after a long illness.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Andrew Metelsky in 2001; sister, Mary R. Marlowe and parents, Frank and Mary (nee Kalo) Vance of Akron, Ohio.
She leaves behind her Akron siblings: Frank M. (Rosemary) Vance, Sylvia A. Vance, George D. (Marty) Vance, John M. (Pat) Vance, Victoria V. Marek and Debbie L. (Bijan) Esfandiary of Washington State, as well as many dear cousins, nephews and nieces.
Eve was born in Lorain, Ohio on January 2, 1929 and grew up in Akron. She graduated from Garfield High School, worked at Firestone Tire and later at Ohio Edison Company before moving back to Lorain in 1950 where she spent 14 years working for National Tube/USS Company.
Eve will be remembered for her great story telling, love of laughter and devotion to taking care of her home. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music, crossword puzzles and loved watching old movies with all the great Hollywood stars of yesteryear.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of funeral services at 10:00 am at Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 2238 E. 32nd Street, Lorain. Very Rev. Basil Stoyka will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements. The family extends gratefulness to the caring team at Avon Oaks and Crossroads Hospice for all their support and comfort. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church.
