Faye Ann Vandergrift, (nee Paul), age 61, of Lorain, died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at her residence while under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve following a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 10, 1943 in Lorain, she lived here her entire life.
She was a foster parent for many years, having raised numerous children.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She had volunteered at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lorain, with all church activities.
Faye enjoyed crafting, bowling, knitting, crocheting, painting, gardening and camping.
Surviving is her husband of 42 years, William M. Vandergrift Sr., a son, Richard of Lorain, daughters, Patty Beatty of Lakewood, Dawn Vandergrift of Lorain, and Marsha Shelton of Florence, KY, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, a sister, Loretta White of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Brian Scott Vandergrift in 1984, and William Vandergrift Jr. in 1989, her parents, Louis Paul in 1964, and Kathryn Byrne (nee Reese) in 1992, and her step father, Richard Byrne in 2003.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Fr. David Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
