D. Silva, of Lorain, age 71, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at Grace Hospital, Amherst, following a lengthy illness.
Born on February 2, 1933, in Morovis, Puerto Rico, he moved to Lorain in 1953. While in Lorain, he worked for Lorain Ford Assembly Plant on the K.D. line as a spot welder, where he retired after 23 years of service.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel where he also was a Eucharistic Minister, and part of the Charismatic Movement. He was also a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 425, here in Lorain.
He enjoyed gardening, baseball, reading the Bible, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maria (nee; Sanchez), sons; Luis F., of Elyria, Juan A., Norbert, Edwin, all of Lorain, daughters; Diana Rebman, of Avon Lake, Evelyn Lagares, Maria Rosalez, Mabel Kline, Nancy Gonzalez, and Maribel Fulks, all of Lorain, 36 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Victor Silva, of Lorain, and sisters; Juana Rosario, of Lorain, Antonia, Aurora, and Ramona, all of Puerto Rico.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Juana (nee; Visalden) and Enrique Silva, and his daughter, Doris Silva in 1981.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Friends will also be received on Friday, December 10, at the church at 9:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral mass at 9:30. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate.
