Felix Marin, 87 of Lorain, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Oak Hills Nursing Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Born October 25, 1922 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, he came to the United States and traveled to many states looking for work. Felix spent 2 years in Gary, Indiana and also in Utah where he worked in a mine before settling in Lorain in 1952. Felix retired from Thew Shovel Company in 1971 where he worked 18 years as a spray painter.
Felix was an active member of Templo Bethel, Lorain, where he served as a preacher and taught Sunday school, cooked dinners, and made hospital and home visits to pray for the sick.
He enjoyed fishing, planting a garden every year, cooking Spanish food and playing the guitar. He also was an avid reader of the Bible.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Lillian A. (Segarra); sons, Felix Jr. of San Angelo, TX, and Samuel "Sammy" of Lorain; daughters, Migdalia Serrano and Lydia Rivers-Hogg both of Lorain, and Christina Marin-Gill of Ansted, West Virginia; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Maria (Martinez) Marin; a brother Fernando; and a sister Isabel Martinez.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 - 9:00 pm in Dovin Funeral, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:00 am at Iglesia Christiana Pentecostal, 301 W. 22nd Street, Lorain. Rev. Luis Cintron, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
