Florence Abrahamowicz, (nee Gawlik), 86, of Lorain, died Friday, June 23, 2006 at her sons residence following a short illness.
She was born Sept. 8, 1919 in Lorain, and lived here her entire life.
Florence managed the Polish American Citizens Club in Lorain from 1978 to 2001.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, a former member of the American Slovak Club, in Lorain, and a long-time member and officer of the former Polish American Citizens Club Ladies Auxiliary.
Florence was a homemaker and enjoyed her family, gardening, growing roses and cooking.
Surviving are her sons, Donald, with whom she made her home with in Lorain, Peter of Oberlin, daughter, Jean Gargasz of Amherst, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and a sister, Dorothy Tobicash of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Walter in 1978, a son, Michael in 1973, a granddaughters, Pamela Gargasz Engram in 1988, and Debra Gargasz in 1972, a great grandson, Nicholas Gargasz in 1988, brothers, Edward, Richard, Henry, and Joseph, sisters, Jean Horvath, Stella Kuhn, and Connie Kerley.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. On Wednesday the funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, E. 28th and Elyria Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. David Novak, Administrator will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
