Florence I. Johnson, age 81, of Amherst, died on Friday, July 15, 2005 at her residence, following a short illness.
She was born on January 12, 1924 in Triadelphia, West Virginia moving to Lorain County in 1956.
Florence had studied elementary education at West Liberty State College and University of Pittsburgh, where she received her masters degree.
She was employed as a 4th grade teacher at Larkmoor Elementary, Lorain for 26 years, retiring in 1983. Prior to this she was employed at Ohio Country West Virginia School for 14 years.
She was a member of Church of Unity in Westlake and also the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Lorain County Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her sister: Hazel E. Ellison, 9 nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents: George E. and Mary S. (nee Little) Johnson, brothers: Kenneth, Merle and Clarence, sisters: Regina J. Scott and Margarite Winters.
A private graveside service will be held at West Alexander, PA. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the local arrangements.
