Florence Mindek (nee Wisner), age 90, of Lorain, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010, at Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon.
She was born on June 16, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio. Florence and her late husband moved to Avon Lake in 1977, and then moved to Lorain in 1987.
Florence was employed at Economy Sales for 15 years, before retiring in 1973. She also had worked at White Cross and prided herself on being a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Florence enjoyed cooking and baking, crocheting, needle-work, and gardening. Most of all though, she loved being a wife, mom, and grandma.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Joyner, of Lorain, son-in-law, Jack Benton, of Lorain, grandchildren; Suzette Joyner, of Cleveland, Michael (Audrey) Joyner, of Bayfield, WI, Brian (Monica) Joyner, of Olivebridge, NY, Matthew (Rebecca) Benton, of Traverse City, MI, Christopher Benton, of Cleveland, and Andrew (Moira) Benton, of Elyria, and 5 great grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Peter, on July 12, 2009, a daughter, Marcia Benton, in 2005, infant son, Dennis, her parents; Ignatius and Clara (nee Witt) Wisner, and a sister, Elaine (Harvey) Schwartzenberg.
Friends will be received for a memorial mass, for Peter and Florence, on Friday, April 16, 2010, at 11:00 am, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Avenue, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling arrangements.
