Florence J. Stape (nee Alekna) 84, of Lorain, died day at January 28, 2006 at Gaymont Nursing Center, Norwalk following a brief illness
She was born April 26, 1921 in Cleveland, living there until 1962 when she moved to Lorain.
She was a 1939 graduate of John Hay High School in Cleveland.
She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lorain, and the churches Ladies Guild, Marian Guild, and Prayer Group. She enjoyed cooking and reading.
Surviving are her sons, John Stape of Vancouver, Christopher Stape of Pasco, Washington, and Paul Stape of Lorain; daughters, Laura Doyle of Amherst, Teresa Margaritis of Berlin Heights, and Josephine Schon of Joplin, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Alekna and Josephine (nee Waiwood) Alekna, and a granddaughter, Sarah Rose Doyle.
A memorial mass will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 West Erie Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Joseph West, pastor, will officiate. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
