Francisca Querubin (nee de Paz) 89, of Amherst, died Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West, Lorain.
She was born Jan 29, 1916 in Dulag, Leyte, Philippines; and came to the United States in 1983 having lived in Georgia and New York before coming to Amherst in 1993.
She was the past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, and served as Queen of Barangay, both in the Philippines, and had been very active in the Philippine Community there.
She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, sewing, watching soap operas, playing solitaire, gardening, and cooking authentic gourmet Philippine dishes.
Surviving is her son, Dr. Renato Querubin of Amherst, a daughter, Letecia Querubin-Gesite of Atlanta, Georgia, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a sister Julia Tupaz of the Philippines.
She was preceded in death by her husband Loreto, her parents, Victor de Paz, and Catalina (nee Fuentes) de Paz.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jose Malayang will officiate. The family will then receive friends on December 22nd and 23rd at Funeraria Gomez in Tacloban City, Philippines. Burial will be December 24th in Leyte Cemetery, Tacloban City.
