Frank P. Acs, age 86, of Lorain, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Amherst Hospital, Amherst, following a brief illness.
He was born on May 20, 1924, in Detroit, MI, living most of his life though, in Lorain. He attended Lorain Schools. Frank served in the United States Army during WWII receiving the Purple Heart. He was wounded while crossing the Rhein River in Germany.
He was employed at US Steel, as a brick layer and in the blast furnace, from 1952 until retirement in 1984. He was a member of the C.S.A. Lodge #218, the P.A.C.C., and the Leidertaffel Club.
Frank enjoyed fishing, boating and he loved the lake. He also enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Rosemary (nee Kastl), in 2003, his daughter, Barbara L. Acs, on May 23, 2010, and his parents; Frank and Julia (nee Slipka) Acs.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 11, from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am, at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, Pastor of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Full military honors will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20.
