Frank H. Muhich, 85, of Elyria, died Thursday, October 20, 2005 at Life Care Center of Elyria following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 23, 1920 in Lorain, living here until moving to Elyria in 1998.
Frank served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II as a seaman second class. He had received the 50 year veteran emblem.
He worked at Lake Terminal Railroad as an engineer and fireman for 35 years, retiring in 1981.
He enjoyed golf, gardening, music and watching high school outdoor sports.
He is survived by his son, James Muhich of Elyria; daughter, Joanne Uszynski of Lagrange, Ohio; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Rosa Knock of Ann Arbor, MI, and Kate Sprouse of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet (nee Zimmerman), in 1955; parents, Nicholas Muhich and Rose (nee Yariczich) Muhich; a brother, Edward Muhich; and
sisters, Anne Kelly and Mary Weaver.
Private family funeral services were held Saturday, October 22, 2005 in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Burial had followed in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Amherst Veterans Honor Guard provided military honors.
