Frank W. Stumphauzer, 92, of Lorain, died peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2009 at Community Health Partners, Lorain following a brief illness.
Born Nov. 2, 1916 in Bangor, Saskatchewan, Canada; he has lived in Lorain for the last 68 years.
Employed in the foundry industry for 43 years, Frank had worked at the former Kasper Foundry in Elyria for 34 years, retiring as Vice President in 1982.
He was an active member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, a member and former officer of the Holy Name Society at the church, and volunteered making Hungarian sausage there until the last few years. His passions included his family, his tree farm, growing roses, and gardening. His was well known for homemade chocolates; which he gave as gifts to his family and friends.
Surviving is his son, Ronald F.(Sylvia) of St. Mary's, Ohio; a daughter, Nancy Kozich of Lorain; grandchildren, Donna Birchfield of Lorain, Michelle Kayser, Lisa Kilgore, and Beth Henning all of St. Mary's, Ronald Stumphauzer Jr. of Keller, TX, Donald Kozich II of Lorain, Daniel Kozich of Columbus, and Denise Kozich of Lorain; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Jesse of Avon; and a sister, Margaret Cook of Avon.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Goldie (nee Kocsis) in 1996; parents, Stephen and Mary Stumphauzer; brothers, Stephen, John, William and Joseph; sisters, Alice Puskas, Helen Pandy, Mary Papay and Irene Andriozzi; son-in-law, Don A. Kozich; and a great granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 am followed by mass at 10:00 am at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Schmitz, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
