Franklin L. "John" Moore, age 70, of Lorain, died on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Community Health Partners Hospital, Lorain.
John was born on October 11, 1939 in Lumberport, West Virginia and came to Lorain in 1969.
He served as a cook with the 150th Armed Cavalry in the United States Army serving four years before discharge in 1964.
John was a masonry brick layer for US Steel for 32 years, retiring in 2002 and was a member of the Local Steelworkers Union Local #1104.
He enjoyed going hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Betty L. (nee Martin-Lucas), daughters, Virginia (James) Kowalik, of Ashland, Teresa (William) Moore-Marrero, and Nancy Moore both of Lorain, 7 grandchildren, Michael Frost, Jennifer Moore, Nicholas Moore-Marrero, Deanna Frost, John Moore-Marrero, Jamie Barden and Franklin L. Moore, II and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Franklin R. Frost, 3 brothers, Virgil, Alfred "Hop", and Charles, 2 sisters, Ellen Martin and Pearl Long and his parents, Floyd and Nancy (nee Wilson) Moore.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon. Rev. Rick Young, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 30 combined with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451.
