Fred Lopez Jr.

Fred Lopez Jr. was born on December 28, 1958 and peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on June 30, 2023 at the age of 64.

He was blessed with natural athletic ability and played two varsity years in the late 1970s as a starting tackle for the Lorain High School football team.  Fred went on to Findlay College to play in two NIAI National Championships, winning Findlay’s first national title in 1979, defeating Iowa Northwest fifty-one to six. 

Fred worked at Lorain Products for several years and later earned his CDL to operate semi-tractor trailer rigs.

He loved to fish and play basketball with family and friends.  Fred especially relished the rival basketball games, the young guys against his dad and his uncles.

Fred is survived by his father Fred (Shirley) Sr., of Lorain; sister, Kathy Lopez of Florida and many close relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marianne (nee Lamats); brother, Jerome “Jerry” and a sister, Veronica.
