Fredesvindo Miranda, age 83 of Lorain, died Friday, April 1, 2005 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home, Lorain following a brief illness.
Born Nov. 9, 1921 in Isabela, Puerto Rico, he has lived in Lorain for most of his life.
He served in the US Army during World War II.
He worked as a machinist for General Motors in Parma for 30 years retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and the United Auto Workers Union Local 1005. He enjoyed cabinet making, and time with his family including family activities.
Surviving are his sons, Roland Miranda of Lakewood, Nelson Miranda of Lorain and Alvin Miranda of Puerto Rico; daughters: Nilda Foy of Cincinnati, Emma Delgado of Lorain, and Aida Stanco of Avon; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Felix Miranda and Ramon Miranda both of Puerto Rico; a sister, Remedio DeLeon of Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Rosa (nee Echevarria) in 1993; parents, Ramon Miranda Serrano and Maria Miranda Gonzalez; daughter, Nereida Miranda in 1984; and a sister, Delia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends may also call from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2005 at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
