Ganna Panzel (nee Komar) age 71, of Sheffield Village, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Born June 4, 1933 in Lorain, she lived here until moving to Sheffield Village 5 years ago.
She was a 1952 graduate of Lorain High School and attended Lorain County Community College for 2 years.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain, where she was active in church activities including pyrohy making and volunteering for bingo.
Ganna had worked as an Insurance Adjuster for Nationwide Insurance in Elyria for over 30 years retiring in 2000.
She enjoyed gardening and collecting figurines.
Surviving are her sons, Ken Panzel of North Ridgeville, Ron Panzel of Strongsville, and David Panzel of Lorain, 1 granddaughter, a brother, Stephen Komar of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Komar and Anna (nee Woljchiewmowski) Komar, brothers, Frank Komar in 2005 and Donald Komar in 1950.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a panachida will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, E. 31st Street and Charleston Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Steven M. Paliwoda, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
