While surrounded by his family, Gary J. Lowe of Amherst, passed away in the early morning of Monday, November 22, 2021, following a short battle with colon cancer at the age of 55.
Born in Berea on April Fools’ Day in 1966 to the late James and Mary Ann (nee Garrity) Lowe, Gary grew up in North Ridgeville before moving outside of Ohio for several years. For the past 24 years, he has resided in Lorain County.
Gary worked as a heavy equipment operator for Chieftain Trucking and Excavating in Cleveland for the past 10 years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18.
Gary was a loving and devoted companion of 21 years to Alison (nee McCarty) who he recently married on June 12, 2021. Together they have two sons who Gary loved and adored, Luke age 15 and Evan age 13.
Gary cherished spending time with his wife, boys and friends. He had a passion for the outdoors, football, camping, fishing and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed working on cars and was always ready to lend a hand. Gary loved his friends and his friends loved him. His great sense of humor and handsome smile will be remembered by many.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Lowe and William Lowe.
Alison, Luke and Evan will receive friends Sunday, November 28, starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Visitation will conclude with a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Melvin Saylor, Chaplain of Stein Hospice will officiate.
