Gary David Slone, Sr., age 54, of Sheffield Twp., passed away unexpectedly, at his home, on Thursday, April 28th, 2011.

He was born on June 12th, 1956, in Pikeville, Ky. He moved to Sheffield Township at the age of one and has lived there ever since. Gary was a 1974 graduate of Clearview High School. He had worked at US Steel, in the shipping department and as a straddle truck driver, for almost 25 years, before retiring in 1999. He was a member of Pleasant View Old Regular Baptist Church in Litchfield, OH. His hobbies were fishing and riding motorcycles with his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his children; Stacey ( Wayne ) Slone Riggs, of Scottsdale , AZ , Samantha (Eric) Slone Maszton, of Phoenix , AZ , and Gary David (Angela) Slone, Jr., of Mesa, AZ, and his 4 grandchildren; Chandler Slone Maszton, age 16, Caleb Thompson Riggs, age 14, Logan Slone Maszton, age 9, and Lauren Slone Maszton, age 7.
He was preceded in death by his parents; David, in 2001, and Linda M. (nee Tucker) Slone, in 2002.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3rd, from 5 pm until the time of services at 6:30 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 am, also in the funeral home. Elder Hobart Justice and Elder Elmer Edwards, of Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
