Genevieve "Aunt Jean" Kure, (nee Darmafall), 77, of Lorain, died Sunday, December 09, 2007 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West, Lorain, following a short illness.
Genevieve was born March 30, 1930 in Lorain, where she was a life long resident. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1948.
She retired from Ohio Edison, Lorain, where she worked as a clerk in the billing department for 29 years.
Genevieve was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, Union of Poles in America, and a life member of the Polish American Citizens Club, Lorain.
She enjoyed playing bingo, baking, reading, and loved her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her brother, Frank Darmafall of Nova, Ohio; sister, Mildred Hawley of Bristow, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Joseph Kure on September 23, 2007; parents, Frank Darmafall in 1976 and Johanna "Jennie" (nee Striner) Darmafall in 1987; a sister, Joan Cochran in 1989.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:45 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, E. 28th and Elyria Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. David Novak, parish administrator, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
