George Delestathis, age 77, of Lorain, died on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on February 13, 1930, in Lorain and has been a lifelong resident.
He was employed as a forklift operator at Thew Shovel where he retired from after many years of service.
George enjoyed attending high school sporting events and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Doris (nee Harmon), of Lorain, sons: David and George P. Delestathis, both of Lorain, daughter: Barbara Delestathis, of Lorain, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, step -brother: George Demitrious of Lorain and sister: Helen Prieto, of Lorain and step-sister: Alexandra Deskins, of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Anna (nee Cozhocky) Delestathis and sister: Georgia Bailey.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9 from 6-9 p.m. at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Bill Fraley, pastor of West Ridge Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
