George Dyriw, 84, of Lorain, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at his residence following a short illness.
He was born November 9, 1923 in Krasno, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, coming to Lorain from West Germany in 1951.
He worked in the transportation department at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant for 23 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of St. John Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain, and the United Auto Workers Union Local 425.
George enjoyed reading and gardening.
Surviving is his son, Walter Dyriw of Amherst; and a grandson, George M. Dyriw of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Ludwika (nee Pichorowski) Dyriw in 1991; parents, Walter Dyriw and Maria (nee Grecthier) Dyriw; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Private burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
