George A. Pastron Sr., age 69 of Amherst Twp., passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, following a short illness.
Born Dec. 23, 1946 in Lorain, he lived in Amherst Twp. his entire life. George graduated from Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst then began working at Lorain Works US Steel. For 33 years, he worked as master mechanic and instructor, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lorain, where he was a Holy Name member. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104, National Slovak Society and the First Catholic Slovak Union.
George was active in Amherst youth sports including soccer, basketball and baseball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and many hobbies.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 43 years, Helen (nee Logsdon); his children, George Jr. (Dawn) of Amherst Twp., Ethel A. (Sam) Lijoi of North Royalton and Nick J. (Saaema) of Amherst Twp.; grandchildren, Tiffany, Breanna, Amanda, Vincenzo, Annabella, Lianna and Santino; and a great granddaughter, McKenna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Pastron Jr. in 1981 and Anna V. (nee Estok) Pastron in 1998.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Rev.
