Georgia Adkins (nee Sweeney), age 89, of Lorain, died on May 23, 2010 at her home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 28, 1921 in Dungan, Virginia, living in this area since 1954.
When Georgia was younger she enjoyed gardening and reading.
She is survived by her two sons, James (Cleo) Adkins, of Cape Coral, FL and Danny (Viola) of Lorain, two daughters, Ellen (Larry) Smith, of Ft. Meyers, FL and Linda (Roger) Thacker, of Elyria, 19 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren, and17 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, M.W. and Vena (Fields) Sweeney, beloved husband, Warren in November 1999, children, Freddy and Carolynn Adkins, brothers, Harrison and Elmer Sweeney and sisters, Elsie Pettyjohn and Elizabeth Delph.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 5-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. Her grandson, Rev. Timothy Adkins, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
