Geraldine Joan Lasky, age 83, of Lorain, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born February 2, 1933 in Lorain, she visited California frequently before moving there in 2013. She left many friends in California to returned to live in Sheffield Lake in 2016 to be closer to family.
While living in Lorain, Geraldine worked as a clerk in the payroll department of Ford Motor Company, Lorain Assembly Plant and at the Cleveland Engine Plant No. 1 for a total of 30 years. She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain. Geraldine enjoyed playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, ceramics and painting, playing bingo. She also read many books and enjoyed talking to her son's parrot, Biju, and going to lunch with the "Gourmet Gals". Geraldine volunteered at the libraries in California and at the Senior Center in North Olmstead.
Surviving is her loving son, Daryl of Sheffield Lake; a brother, Robert (Mary Ann) Lasky of Florida; sisters, Helen (Edward) Truskolaski of North Ridgeville and Mary Jane Goodwin of Elyria; a brother in law, William James of Elyria; 28 nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews and 6 great great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Susie (nee Sims) Lasky; brothers, Albert Lasky and John Lasky; and sisters, Shirley James and Mildred Halasz.
Visitation will start with a Panachida service at 1:00 pm and will conclude at 4:30 pm with a celebration of Geraldine's life on Friday in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. To send online condolences go to
