Geraldine A. Merkle

Geraldine A. "Gerri" Merkle, age 70, of Lorain, died on Monday, December, 15, 2008 at Community Health Partners Hospital, Lorain, after a sudden illness.
She was born September 11, 1938 in Lorain and was a lifelong area resident.
She worked in accounts payable at the Morning Journal for 44 years before retiring in 2005. She enjoyed breeding, raising and riding horses. She also gave riding lessons. She treasured her collection of antique dolls and horse figurines. She also enjoyed teaching accordion.
Surviving are several nieces and a nephew; cousins, Helen Maziarz, of Lorain, Carol (nee Simo) Rizzitano, of Florida; and a Godson, James Maziarz.
She was preceded in death by her father, Adam Merkle in 1980, her mother, Bertha (nee Miszczak) in 1983, her brothers, Adam G. Merkle, Jr. in 1984 and Robert Merkle and sister, Joann "Candy" Stetz in 1995.
Visitation will be Saturday from 12 noon until time of services at 2:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Mr. Robert Dybo, deacon at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
