Gertrude "Gertie" Siemion, 87, of Lorain, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Hearthstone at Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Born March 17, 1921 in Mt. Pleasant, PA; she came to Lorain at a young age, living here her entire life.
Gertie graduated from Lorain High School in 1940. She worked for Moen then Stanadyne in Elyria for 36 years, retiring in 1979 from the inspection department.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain.
Surviving is her niece, Sr. Benjamin Chrapczynski of Garfield Heights; a nephew, Richard Chrapczynski of Olympia, WA; and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Siemion Jr., in 1951, and Stephania (nee Dombrowski) Siemion in 1956; brothers, Frank, John, Walter, Leo and Stanley; sisters, Bernice Chrapczynski, Helen Lambur, and Marie Siemion.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of mass at 10:00 am at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, E. 28th Street and Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. David Novak, administrator, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.
