Gladys Solis

Gladys Solis (nee Mercado), age 68, passed away at her home in Lorain, Ohio on February 13, 2023 from a short, heroic battle with liver cancer.

She was born November 17, 1954 to Martin and Adolfa (nee Flores) Mercado in Lorain where she spent her entire life.  For 34 years, she worked at Sprenger Anchor Lodge Nursing Home. 

Gladys will be remembered as an amazing mother, wife, grandmother and sister who lived her life for the Lord with passion and grace.  She had a love for animals and loved to watch Hallmark Channel movies, dance and laugh.  She also enjoyed spending time with her husband and family.  She was and always will be remembered for her loving heart, good cooking, love for family and God.  Angels have rejoiced at her coming home as we celebrate her life.

She is survived by her husband, Rodolfo Solis; daughters, Sophia (Anthony) Hernandez-Ortiz and Priscilla Hernandez; sons, Jose “Pito” (Jessica) Negron and Marco Negron; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margie (William) Roldan and brothers, Ralph (Millie), Daniel (Monica), Angel (Rebecca), Martin, Antonio (Anna), Frank as well as other beloved family members.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents as well as her sister, Helen Elaine Mercado.
