Glen Wooten, 60, of Lorain, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at his residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 17, 1944 in Logan, West Virginia, he has lived in Lorain for most of his life.
He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS John W. Thomason. After 6 years, Glen received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.
He worked as a lineman for Ford Motor Co. Lorain Assembly Plant for 31 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sheffield Lake, and the United Auto Workers Union Local 425.
Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Christine M. (nee Pyles), sons; Glen Jr., Michael A., and Cory all of Lorain, 2 granddaughters, a brother; Chester of Lorain, sisters; Deanna Trent and Mary Martinez both of Lorain.
He was preceded by his parents; Hubert Wooten in 1986, and Murray (nee Staton) Wooten in 1989, a brother; Lee Roy Wooten Sr. in 2001, sister; Marie Wooten in 1988.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Boyd Lacy, pastor of First Baptist Church, Sheffield Lake, will officiate. Burial will follow Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. The Veterans of Foreign War Post 451 of Lorain will conduct full military honors.
