Gloria E. Aponte, age 80, of Cleveland, formerly of Lorain, died on Sunday, February 3, 2010 at HCR Manor Care Health Services, North Olmsted, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on November 5, 1929 in Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain in 1950, where she lived for 49 years before moving in with her daughter in Cleveland 11 years ago.
She was employed as an assembler at General Motors, Elyria for 6 years. Prior to this she was the owner of Gloria's Beauty Shop, Lorain in the 1960's.
Gloria was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel. She enjoyed music, bingo and dancing.
She is survived by her son: Robert Vieta Jr. of Amherst, daughter: Chris Lozano, of Cleveland, 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, brother; Pedro Aponte, of Brunswick, and sisters: Carmen B. Acevedo, of Brunswick, Rosemary Mosny, of Ossining, New York and Carmen A. Seda of Grafton.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Luis and Regalada (nee Delgado) Aponte and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, will officiate.
