Grant D. Puskas, 54, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Born October 1, 1961 in Amherst, he lived in Lorain his entire life. He graduated from Southview High School in 1980 then served in the US Navy.
Grant worked as a self employed carpenter and also as a carpenter for various contractors in the Lorain area. He also helped at Puskas Family Flowers with various projects and completed digging the pond there with the help of his brothers. The pond is named Grants Lake. He was truly a gifted handyman. He loved his family, friends and freedom "he had to do it his way". He was quick with the wit, had a great heart, a big smile and was a great hugger. We miss him already.
Surviving is his mother, Carol Szabo (nee Guzik) of Elyria; brothers, Greg of Strongsville and George of Avon Lake; sisters Carla Puskas of Sheffield Lake and Celeste Puskas of Lorain; a nephew, Douglas; a niece, Sarah; and long time companion, Brenda Songer of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his father, George D. Puskas in 1980; and grandparents, Joe and Stella Guzik; and Mari Puskas.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 am in the funeral home. John Slatcoff, deacon of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, with full military honors.
