Guadalupe R. Lupe Flores, 83, of Lorain, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at his residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness.
Born February 7, 1921 in Fort Worth, TX, he came to Lorain in 1948.
He served as a corporal in the US Army during World War II in the American Theater.
He worked as a relief foreman for Lorain Works US Steel, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1104. He enjoyed gardening and working around the house.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Frances (nee Ceja ), sons; John, Richard, Michael and Joseph all of Lorain, daughters; Helen Avalos and Marie Oliver both of Lorain, 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, brothers; Peter Flores of Lorain, Sammy Flores and Joseph Flores both of Fort Worth TX, a sister; Mary Fernandez of Fort Worth, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Flores and Antonia (nee Ramirez) Flores, and a brother; Louis Flores.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral home followed by mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Veterans of Foreign War Post #451 of Lorain will conduct full military honors.
