Helen I. Czipa, age 80, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home, following a long illness.
She was born on March 1, 1926 in Lorain where she was a lifelong resident until moving Amherst Manor.
She was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain.
During her working career she was employed for many years at Arvay Potato Chip Factory, Lorain, and St. Ladislaus Club Kitchen. She also provided cleaning services in the Lorain area.
She provided financial support for missionary work including sponsoring Fr. Matt of India during his studies for religious life. She enjoyed canning, playing bingo, people watching and gardening. She was well known for her baking of Hungarian nut roll, strudel and pastries.
She is survived by her sister: Elizabeth Wood, of Avon Lake and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Andrew S. and Anna (nee Margit) Czipa; brother: Andrew Czipa, Jr. and sisters Mary Rehoreg, Rose Nagy and Anna Alflen.
Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. followed by mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, E. 29th and Fulton Road., Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Schmitz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
