Helen A. Duran, (nee Pajer), 86, of Lorain, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
She was born July 6, 1924 in Lorain, where she lived her entire life. Helen graduated from Lorain High School in 1942.
For the last 20 years, Helen worked with her daughter and son-in-law at George's Hook N Gun in Lorain. Prior to this, she worked at Harmon Appliance, Lorain, and National Stove Works, Lorain. During the 1950's, Helen and her husband owned and operated Pure Oil Service Station on E. 28th Street on Grove Ave., in Lorain.
She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, Lorain, where she had taught Sunday school. She was also a member of Joy Seniors.
Helen was a huge fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, sewing and embroidering.
Surviving are her daughters, Donna (George) Garwell of Lorain, and Janet (Keith Stauffer) Duran of Avon; brothers, Arnold (Dorothy) Pajer of Vermilion, and Andrew Pajer of Fremont; a brother-in-law, John Suster of Elyria; and sister-in-laws, Mildred Kothe and Jeannie Pajer both of Vermilion, and Vickie Pajer of Florida
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John in 2003; parents, George and Anne (nee Hronec) Pajer; brothers, George, John, and Jerry; and sisters, Sue Kovacs, Betty Crawford and Mildred Suster.
Private visitation and funeral services were held Friday in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where Rev. Kevin Saylor officiated. Burial followed in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Twp.
