Helen V. Ruiz, 80, of Sheffield Lake, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 17, 1928 in McComas, WV, she lived in Lorain before moving to Sheffield Lake in 1954.
She was a member of The Haven non-denominational, Lorain. Helen had volunteered at the Salvation Army for 5 years and enjoyed bowling and ceramics.
Surviving is her husband of 47 years, Eustacio; a daughter, Brenda Brannon of Sheffield Lake; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Etheline Goforth of Lorain, Shirley Alfano of Rock, WV, and Maxine King of Princeton, WV.
She was preceded in death by son, Richard Allen Gills in 1970; a daughter, Linda Lee Frame in 1965; parents, Troy and Clara (nee Peak) Lusk; and 5 brothers.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends may also call on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am. Rev. D.J. Murray, pastor of The Haven non-denomination, and Rev. Geneva Hedrick, assistant pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
