Helen L. Stevens (nee Katocs), age 100, of Elyria, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at Kingston of Vermilion, where she lived for the past 10 years.
She was born on January 25, 1908, in Austria, Hungary, coming to the United States as a young child. She had resided in Amherst and Elyria.
Mrs. Stevens worked for the Kline Brothers in her younger years. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Elyria, where she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
She enjoyed crocheting and working in her flower gardens.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Robert Kinder (Lillian), of Vermilion, 3 grandchildren; Joseph Kinder, Kathleen Bodde, and Christine McCann, and her 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Marion, in Dec. of 1993; her parents, Joseph, in 1955, and Elizabeth (nee Chuha) Katocs in 1970, and an infant brother.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 15, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a Rosary Service being held at 3:30 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a mass at 9:30 a.m., at St, Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. The Rev. Fr. James R. Ols, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
