Helen Szewczyk, (nee Rzaca), 88, of Lorain, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Amherst Retirement Community following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 25, 1916 in Lorain, and lived here her entire life
Helen worked for 15 years as a seamstress at Richmond Brothers, Lorain, and at Keller Kohn Co. in Elyria.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain and the Ladies Guild of the church. She enjoyed going on bus trips with the St. Stanislaus church groups.
Surviving is her son, Eugene Chevchek of Lorain; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Stanley Rzaca of Lorain; a sister, Victoria Zeh of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew in 1987; her son, Gerald in 2000; parents, George Rzaca and Mary (nee Schuster) Rzaca; brother, Thomas Rzaca; sisters, Mary Olszewski in 1995, and Sr. Mary Aquinata, S.S.J.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends may also be received from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Elyria Ave. and E. 28th St., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Kevin Schemuga, pastor, and Mr. William Schill, Deacon, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
