Helen Zadekas

Helen Zadekas, (nee Uszak) 89, of Lorain, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West following a lengthy illness.

She was born October 26, 1916 in Lorain and has lived here her entire life.

A Lorain business women, Helen and her husband Stanley owned and operated the Stanley and Son Garden Center on Oberlin Ave., in Lorain for 46 years.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, and the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church. She enjoyed shopping and flea markets, crafts and bowling.

Surviving is her daughter-in-law, Virginia "Ginger" Zadekas of Lorain; a granddaughter, Sheila Zedekas of Lorain; and a sister, Mary Seskar of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Stanley in 2004; her son, James J. Zadekas in 2003; parents, John Uszak in 1967, and Agnes (nee Busko) Uszak in 1966; brothers, Frank Uszak in 1977, and Joseph Uszak.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, E. 28th and Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Kevin Shemuga, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
