Henry Lovett

Henry Lovett, Jr. age 85, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 11, 1923 in Eldorado, Arkansas, moving to Lorain in 1951.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, participating in the Campaigns of Northern France, Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland and was awarded four bronze stars.
Henry was employed in the BOP Shop at Lorain Works US Steel from 1952 until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the United Steelworkers Local #1104.
Henry enjoyed fishing, hunting and the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Mary Ann (nee McCoy) Lovett, sons: Walter Wyrick (Linda), Gary Lovett (Christine), Greg Lovett (Jackie), Henry Lovett, III, Brian Lovett (Stacey) all of Lorain, daughters: Pamela Lovett, Felicia Peyton (Rodrick), both of Lorain and Stacey Dias (Jeffrey) of Elyria, 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, brother: Venoy Lovett of Lorain and sisters: Louise Whitaker and Florence Heath, both of Lorain and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Virgie (nee Turner) Lovett, Sr. son: Marcus Lovett in 2006, sisters: Flossie Whitfield and Rosina Lovett, brothers: Leel (Tom) Lovett and Odell Lovett.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 7, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Daniel O. Divis, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Disabled American Veterans.
