Hilda Katherine Chulig, (nee Blazina), age 84, of Lorain, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. Mary of the Woods, Avon, after a brief illness.
She was born on June 2, 1924 in Lorain, where she had been a lifelong resident.
Hilda was a graduate of Lorain High School.
She was a parishioner of St. Vitus Croatian Church of Lorain.
Hilda enjoyed shopping, reading, baking, gardening, discussing politics and spending time with her grandchildren.
Hilda is the loving mother of Janet Chulig and Carole Ann (Roger) Crayton, both of Lorain, Cheryl (Carleton) McCarty, of Amherst and Joanne Chulig, of Lorain. Dear grandmother of Hilary Crayton, Catherine, Christopher & Carolyn McCarty. Brother Steve (Carroll) Blazina, of Hilliard, and sister Anna Luca, of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Harry S. Chulig, who died on August 26, 1990. Parents Michael & Luba (nee Blazina) Blazina. Brothers Michael Jr, John, Charles & Joseph and sister Mary Yeager.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vitus Croatian Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Simon Nekic, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
