Ignacio "Iggy" Chavez

Ignacio J. "Iggy" Chavez, Jr., 74 of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Main Street Care Center, Avon Lake.
He was born September 25, 1941 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and resided in Lorain for 62 years.
Iggy graduated from Lorain High School in 1960. He attended Ohio Business College and Lorain County Community College. Iggy was employed at Lee's Furniture Store in Downtown Lorain and was able to help many people in the Lorain area. Iggy was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church both in Lorain. He was active in civic affairs, was a volunteer board member of Lorain County Transit and was a volunteer member of the Lorain County Sheriff's Office Auxiliary.
He is survived by his son, David Chavez and family members, Rudolph Chavez, Sr., Alice (Michael) Chavez-Holland, George (Diana) Chavez, Myrna (Dennis) Chavez-Tomazic, Edward (Deborah) Chavez, Sr., Randolph (Linda) Chavez, and Patricia Chavez, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Antonia Chavez, Sr., his brother Richard Chavez, and sisters Margaret Chavez and Leticia Chavez-Fischer.
The family will receive friends at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th St., Lorain on Monday, from 4-8 pm and Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of mass at 10:00am. Rev.
