Irene B. Kress, (nee Chaplar), 94, of Thomasville, GA, died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at her residence.
She was born Feb. 13, 1913 in LaGrange, Ohio; she lived in Elyria before moving to Georgia in 1978.
While living in Elyria, Irene worked for Bendix Corporation as a gauge crib attendant. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Rose City Travel Club and the Council of Catholic Women. She was a former member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Elyria.
Surviving is her son, Richard A. Kress of Thomasville, GA; a daughter, Nancy Kress of Thomasville, GA; 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Irma McNulty and Rose Meecha both of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frank P. Kress in 1991; parents, Frank Chaplar and Agnes (Nee Kertei) Chaplar; brothers, Frank Chaplar Jr., and Alex Chaplar; sisters, Agnes Kaminski, Mary Lowery, Elizabeth Kruschinski and Theresa Lowery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 590 Poplar St, Elyria. Rev. Fr. Frank P. Kosem, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
