Irene A. Poplar, (nee Michalski), age 88, of Lorain, died on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, West, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on November 1, 1916 in Syracuse, New York.
Irene was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain.
She was employed as a nurses aid at St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain and EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria. She enjoyed polka dancing and playing bingo.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years: Richard F. Poplar, of Lorain, sons: Ronald Skrepich, of New York City and Richard Skrepich, of Phoenix, Arizona, brother: Walter Michalski of Grafton.
She was preceded in death by her first husband- George Skrepich in 1951, parents: Walter & Lottie Michalski, sisters: Helen Bryner and Stella Kowalczyk in 2003 and brother: Chester Michalski in 1982.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 21, 2005 from 2-6 p.m in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, and also on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, East 28th St. and Elyria Ave., Lorain, Rev. Fr. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, and Rev. Wm. Schill, deacon, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
