Irene Spevok (nee Nyirati), age 89, of Lorain, was found dead at her residence, Monday, January, 29, 2007, unexpectedly.
She was born on May 3, 1917, in Lorain, Ohio, where she remained a life-long resident. She attended Lorain Schools and was a 1935B graduate of Lorain High School.
She was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, where she also belonged to the St. Ann's Auxiliary #287, the Knights of St. John, and the Virgin Mary Society.
She was employed at General Motors, Elyria along with General Industries, Elyria, before working at Hough Pharmacy for 20 years, finally retiring from there in 1987.
Irene enjoyed puzzles and crafts, especially making beautiful dolls and stuffed animals. She had also enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
She is survived by her son, Frank J. Posze, of Miamisburg, OH, her daughter, Irene C. Fischer, Lorain, her step-daughter, Sr. M. Bernice Spevok, S.N.D., of Lynd Hurst, OH, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and several step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Posze, on March 3, 1961, her second husband, Adolph Spevok, on November 21, 1969, her parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 step-grandson, and several nephews.
The famiy will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2007 from 9 until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m., at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, 1412 East 29th street, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. James P. Schmitz, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Lorain.
