Irma Foraker (nee Sack), age 83, of Lorain, died Monday, December 12, 2005 at Avon Oaks Skilled Nursing Facility, Avon, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on May 6, 1922 in Germany, came to the United States in 1956 and moved to Lorain in 1962 and has lived there for the rest of her life.
Irma belonged to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. While in Germany, she was a seamstress. After moving to Lorain, she was employed at Kliens Department store and at Agnes Kay Bridal shop. She retired in 1977. She was a former member of the Liedertafel Club.
She enjoyed sewing and baking.
She is survived by a son, Hans, of Houston, TX, a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Renate) Canterbury, of Amherst, 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Irma is preceded in death by her husband, Walter E., in 1977, a daughter, Ann Marie, her parents; Frederick and Emily (nee Rudel) Sack, and a sister, Greta Kaschewski and brother: Walter Sack.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 13, at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave, Lorain from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. , where funeral services will be held at the following morning at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Fr. Joseph West will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
