Isaac P. Galvan

Isaac P. Galvan, age 92, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 3, 1919 in Forleton, Louisiana, also living in Tyler, Texas before moving to Lorain in 1943. He served with the United States Army from 1944 until 1946.
Isaac was employed as a crane operator for USS Kolbe Steel for 40 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where he was also a member of the Guadalupe Society. Isaac was a member of United Steelworkers Local #1104.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Magdelena (nee Martinez), sons; Isaac (Barb), Albert (Patricia) and John Galvan, all of Lorain, daughters; Amparo (Ronald) Caris and Nancy Towner, both of Lorain, 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his 3 sons; Ricardo in 1968, Joseph in 1975, and Alexander in 1997, and his parents; Jose Angel and Nancy Ann (nee Powel) Galvan.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 13th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where prayers will be held the following morning at 8:15 am. A funeral Mass will follow at 9:00 am, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain with full military honors provided by The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20.
