Isabel Villegas Gutierrez, (nee Valdes), age 84 of Lorain, died on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at her residence, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on May 10, 1922 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain in 1956.
She is a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain.
Isabel enjoyed dancing, cooking, sewing, watching wrestling on tv, prayer meetings, attending retreats and flower gardening and just being outdoors. She especially enjoyed having her entire family together.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years: Mariano "El Lobo" Cruz Gutierrez, sons: Guadalupe "Lupe" Villegas, of Saginaw, MI, Luis Marin Cruz, Sr., Epifanio "Cuchie" Gutierrez, Jose "Quique" Gutierrez, and Alberto "Cookie" Gutierrez, all of Lorain, daughters: Ignacia "Ana" Cruz, Juanita "Titi" Gutierrez Davis, Cristella "Cuca" Gutierrez Lopez, and Bienvenida "Little Benny" Dominguez all of Lorain, more than 53 grandchildren, more than 96 great-grandchildren, more than 45 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Felipe Robledo and Estebania (nee Villegas Cotto) Valdes, son; Gabriel in 1945, daughter: Bienvenida in 1989, sons: Edwin in 1991, Albert in 1961 along with 4 other sons, and a few grandchildren, brothers: Ramirez, Liborio, Carlos, Raymundo, Primo, and Jose, sisters: Melegilda "Hilda", Virginia, Barbara, and Emilia.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 15, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Services will be held on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral service at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue. Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
