Jack E. Kelley, 79, of Lorain, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 21, 1926 in Marion, Ohio; he was a life long resident of Lorain.
He worked as a crane operator at Lorain Works US Steel for 35 years, retiring in 1980.
He was an accomplished marksman having received many awards for his trap shooting skills. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1104, the National Riffle Association, and the Amherst Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his nephew, Bob Underwood of Elyria and many nieces and nephews; and a sister, Phyllis Romes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Kelley and Crystal (nee Brobeck) Kelley; sisters, Oneita Underwood in 1994, and Melba Gantz.
Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Robert Schroyer, associate pastor of Church of the Open Door, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
