Jakob "Jake" Wajand, age 87, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at his residence.
He was born on February 22, 1920 in Yugoslavia, moving to Lorain in 1955.
He was employed as a coil winder at Lorain Products for 16 years, retiring in 1985. Prior to this he was employed at Elyria Duplex Foundry.
Jake was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lorain.
He enjoyed carpentry work and fixing things around the house.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Elisabeth (nee Partz) Wajand, son: Jakob Wajand of Glendale, Arizona, daughters: Elisabeth "Liz" Miller and Heidi Tucker, both of Lorain, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and sister: Marie Muhr, of Munich, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jakob and Cecilia (nee Killinger) Wajand and 4 brothers.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 3, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Jimmy Madsen, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
